Brooke originally went to Ethiopia 11 years ago with a friend that was adopting. She had no idea that a part of her heart would forever be left in Ethiopia with Fekadu Shenkute, the director of an orphan project at that time. Not only did Brooke feel a strong call to give her time and resources to God’s work in Ethiopia, she felt the need to bring her husband a year later. From then on, the family knew that they would never be the same.
Fekadu had a vision greater than the one he was living at the time. And Brooke knew that the vision Fekadu had was not of himself, but from God almighty. The idea of Fekadu pursuing this vision through the founding of Mission 10:10 was a logical next step in Brooke’s mind. She was excited to see Fekadu partner with another brother-in-Christ and dear friend, Beki Leslisa. Brooke was honored to be considered as a founding board member of Mission 10:10 and accepted a position as secretary when offered.
Brooke has a strong love for country living but is stuck in a big city because of her husband’s career. She has chickens and goats, and longs to have pigs again. She finds very little time for hobbies but does enjoy crafting, photography, watching tv, and napping! Brooke desires to live in Ethiopia one summer to learn the local language in Ethiopia, Amharic. And a big dream is for Brooke to take her US family to Ethiopia to meet her “extended family” in Ethiopia.
